I have been a miniaturist for three years now, since I received my first doll house as a gift. I like to make as much as I can myself or at least change it to personalise furniture etc.
I was so disappointed with the quality of dolls I could afford so I started to redress them myself. I already had the sewing skills from dressmaking,, knitting and crocheting for children.
All my costumes are hand stitched & usually have fastenings so they can be removed. I learnt how to wig my dolls too using fine viscose hair, hat making was tricky at first but I love a challenge.
As I love fabric that has a nice colour and pattern, sourcing fabric has now also become a hobby. I really enjoy finding fine silks, cotton, lace and ribbon.
I now sell my dolls on ebay and have had some success selling world-wide. A 1/24th dollhouse is my current challenge!
