Hi my name is Lesley and I am a wife and mother of three and live here in beautiful Cornwall. My passion for the wee people and all their wonderful homes and possessions began when my hubby gave me a Christmas present of a 1/12 scale dolls house known as the "Exton".
I began decorating, carpeting and furnishing and before too long found myself in my own little back room surrounded with clays materials and lots of bits and bobs from every car boot and jumble sale within a radius of 40 miles..( much to the bemusement of my hubby) I could never quite find what I really wanted so I set about learning how to make my own accessories. So armed with all my little tools I started on some really fun stuff like little fruits, vegetables, breads and anything else that came to mind .
At this point I must say I was astounded at the amount of sculptors, artists and doll makers from all levels of experience who were more than willing to give advice, time and support for what was really becoming my true creative passion. Most memorably a lady called Jen Brooks with a miniature dollhouse printable site, which in fact is where I came across the first hand sculpted doll I had ever seen.
Finally I was happy with my new miniature home and I was ready to find me or rather make me some wee people, so that's exactly what I did, and along the way I found many truly wonderful artists, sculptors, costumers and doll makers.....a lot of whom are here at D.A.M.E. And as well as all the never ending support, I have made some great like minded friends .
My love and enthusiasm for all that is miniature is as strong as ever I am still finding so much fun in using lots of different mediums and new to me this month needle felting. It gives me so much pleasure to think that lots of my characters and creations are now living in various little homes in villages and cities all over the world.
